Richard Allitt Associates Ltd, the leading urban drainage specialists, are delighted to announce we have met our 2015 commitment to reducing normalised emissions by 30% within a five year period.
The recent environmental report produced within our ISO14001 Environmental Management System showed a decrease in normalised emissions of 20.9% from last year and 51.6% from the baseline year (2010/11). In real terms, this works out as a reduction of 3,676kg CO2 equivalent over the past year.
This has been achieved through a variety of measures including the purchase of a hybrid company vehicle, the installation of LED lightbulbs in the Staplefield offices, and purchasing space in a local datacentre (who are themselves committed to reducing their environmental impacts) for a server to run simulations that would have previously been run on several machines in the office.
RAA’s Environmental Co-ordinator, Katie Powell says “Achieving and surpassing our environmental targets is an important milestone for Richard Allitt Associates. We believe it is important for all companies within our industry to demonstrate a responsible approach to the environment, so hitting our targets not only demonstrates our own commitment but also helps our clients to be greener. We look forward to setting new targets to further reduce our emissions.“
Whilst we are committed to reducing emissions as far as possible within our own means, RAA also have in place a carbon offsetting programme in which offsets are purchased every 2 years. To read more about this and the projects we have supported please click here
