Flood Defence & Prevention Expo aims to keep the UK’s head above water.
The flooding situation that the UK is facing, is only going to worsen with the increasingly damaging effects of global warming. Around 5.2m (one-sixth) of properties in England are at risk of flooding. More than 2.4m properties are at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea, of which nearly 0.5m are at significant risk, and 1m of these are also vulnerable to surface-water flooding. A further 2.8m properties are susceptible to surface-water flooding alone.
Our flood defence and prevention schemes in the UK are improving and according to DEFRA, since December 2013 have defended more than 1.3 million homes and businesses and nearly 2,500 square kilometres of farmland across England alone.
However, in order to keep on top of the struggle we need to bring together the very best flood solutions to allow us to best manage the crisis. This is exactly what the new Flood Defence & Prevention Expo (www.flooddefenceexpo.co.uk) is designed to do.
On 14th and 15th of October at ExCel, London an influential gathering of flood experts, leading authorities and suppliers to the flood defence industry will converge to improve the sophistication and effectiveness of the UK’s approach to flood prevention on every scale.
Not only does this long awaited new expo bring together 150 of the most innovative flood defence solutions (including ourselves), but also the brightest minds, engineers and authorities within the flooding world. Live demonstrations of the products will be on display at the Royal London Docks, and a full conference schedule of 80 seminars runs throughout with high profile and influential speakers addressing the hottest topics from the flooding world. With interactive seminars and panel debates on offer, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved with a discussion that can make a real change.
Tickets are free and can be obtained via the website (www.flooddefenceexpo.co.uk). This really is a must-attend event for flood prevention professionals. We look forward to seeing you there.
