SuDS

In 2014 we became a partner of Susdrain to advocate sustainable drainage schemes (SuDS) and have partnered with Susdrain to support their implementation.

Our core skills include advanced computer modelling of the hydraulic behaviour of sewer networks, SuDS drainage systems, watercourses and flooding in the Urban Environment. Design of SuDS systems for new developments is a key activity and hydraulic modelling of these enables Clients and adopting organisations to fully understand how they will operate.

Richard Allitt Associates has made considerable investment in computer hardware, industry leading software and the training of hydraulic modellers. We are in a unique position and leading the engineering profession in being able to model all possible flooding mechanisms in urban areas. For the first time this enables engineers to fully understand how flooding occurs and then devise suitable mitigation measures which frequently include retro-fitting SuDS.

The experiences of 2012 with severe drought followed during the 2013/14 winter by the worst flooding on record reinforces our views that the future lies with implementing SuDS aligned with Water Sensitive Urban Design.
